Treading in a minefield of cliches

I already pointed out below that spending three days in Japanese schools has prompted me to appreciate in a new way the ethnic diversity of the United States, specifically at CJHS. I'm not bright enough to write about issues of diversity versus homogeneity without resorting to oft-heard slogans (surely another soliloquy on the metaphorical merits of "melting pot" versus "salad bowl" or "orchestral symphony" is unnecessary, especially when one can read the relevant wikipedia article here), so let me just celebrate some of the family names from our local community.
